The Fair Housing Partnership's Sixth Annual Poetry Slam will be held on April 26th, 2012 at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
In this event, local poets speak out about the need to create communities that are built on inclusion, diversity and fairness; that are free of discrimination and intolerance; and embrace change that is citizen driven.
The Rules Are Simple: Anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate. All poets have just three minutes to inspire us, and our panel of judges, with their spoken word.
The Winning Poet will leave The Kelly Strayhorn $500 richer.
Second and Third Place do not make out too badly either--they are awarded $250 and $100, respectively.
Whether you're a slam veteran, a poetry novice, or an enthusiastic spectator (or even if you just enjoy free food, drink, raffles, and merriment) come out in April and support Fair Housing rights!
Above, you can watch previous winner, Sarah Fitzgerald, in action.
Please mark your calendars and stay tuned in the coming months for more information about how to register.
